LONDON — It may sound like a trend, but the long-bad, biny-haired haircut is the most common haircut on Earth, according to new research.
The findings of a survey by the National Centre for Social Research and the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, which looked at the hairstyles worn by 2,000 British adults, suggest that many Britons are opting for a more curvy look, according the BBC.
People who have long black hair have been seen as “slackers” who don’t take care of themselves, said the researchers.
“We think that a lot of these people are very comfortable with the way their hair is done, and have very little idea of how to do it in a way that’s more sustainable,” said Dr. Matthew J. Dyer, a social psychologist at the University at Buffalo who led the study.
There’s been a rise in the popularity of short hair in recent years, and the researchers say that it has become a fashion statement.
But many of those who have adopted shorter hair styles have become increasingly concerned about the cost of such haircuts, and say that the shorter hairstyles are not sustainable in the long run.
“Long-haired people in general have to spend a lot more money to look good than short-haired ones, and we think that that money is not being well spent,” said Dyer.
Dyer said that for people with short hair, the long haircut is a way to keep up with the trends and that it is also an opportunity to cut costs.
They often go to the hair salon to trim their hair, so there’s a lot less fuss, which they see as a better value for money, he said.
While some people choose to stay in the industry and continue to wear their long hair, many others are moving on to shorter haircuts.
The trend may be in decline, but it is still popular with people, Dyer said.
“It’s the trend, so we’re going to keep on doing it.”
