WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A man who cut his top off to make a $250 and got away with it by walking away from a police station was fined and sentenced to three months in jail.
Police said in court on Thursday that 22-year-old Eric Kuehnle, of San Diego, California, was arrested on Dec. 23 after he was seen walking around a San Diego police station wearing only a top hat and a pair of glasses.
After he was handcuffed, Kuehlenle made a quick exit from the station and turned himself in to police, who charged him with assault on a law enforcement officer.
He received a $50,000 fine, and his lawyer received a suspended sentence.
He is scheduled to return to court on Jan. 4.
